Kkeoraei
Project Kkeoraei
The short story Kkeoraei by Baek Sin-ae portrays the hardships and indomitable spirit during the Japanese colonial period.
Suni’s father, having lost all his land, sets off alone to Siberia in search of new land to cultivate. Upon hearing the news of her father's death, Suni decides to travel to Siberia herself to retrieve his body. In Siberia, she is captured by soldiers and discriminated against under the label "Kkeoraei," a derogatory term used to demean Koreans. Through Suni’s struggles, the story depicts the miserable reality of a nation stripped of its sovereignty. However, even in the face of extreme adversity, Suni remains unyielding as she fights to find her father’s body, powerfully conveying both the pain of that era and the enduring spirit of resilience.

Dancing with the Lion
Nolipae Jukjasaja
In an age of chaos, a lion embodying Byeoksa Jinkyung (a ritual for driving away evil and inviting good fortune) appears. The lion moves among the people, playfully licking them with its tongue and pretending to devour them, while also handing out gifts from its mouth to drive away misfortune. The lion demonstrates its grandeur with powerful movements to slow music and engages in humorous dancing to fast music, even inviting children to ride on its back. The lion’s front and hind legs move in perfect harmony, creating an engaging spectacle that goes beyond the stage. It approaches the audience, encouraging them to dance and play along, even allowing spectators to wear the lion mask and dance together.
