The Korean Puppet Theater Association was founded in 1982 by key figures such as Jo Yong-soo, Kang Seung-kyun, Ahn Jeong-ui, Shim Woo-sung, and Seo In-soo. It was established to lay the groundwork for puppet theater activities, protect various rights, and enhance interactions among members, thereby improving the operational conditions for puppet theater organizations. The association currently undertakes various initiatives for the advancement of Korean puppet theater, including the collection and research of related materials, puppet production and performance, international exchange programs, and educational projects.
